If you’re only going to take one hike out of Puan, this is the one to take. The old cypresses are particularly beautiful and over 400 of them line the road which for the most part retains its original flagstones. When not traveling through cypress forests, the road takes you along the ridges of mountains with long views into the valleys below. Farmhouses are scattered throughout and in one small village my guide and I came upon a lady making doufu in an old stone quern. There is a bit of climbing, but plenty of level ground as well and a long, gradual descent as you near Puan. Click on the link below right to go directly to the next hike.
